Mosquitoes have a particularly malevolent character. They are small and soundless, hide in recesses, attack out of the blue and bite badly.
In South Korea, they found a method for fighting mosquitoes with the help of mobile phones. A mobile network operator of SK Telecom offers a new service to its clients. The technology keeps impertinent insects several meters away from a lucky subscriber.



The company has developed a special ultrasonic signal, which can be transmitted to mobile telephone sets. This sound is not sensed by a human ear but is absolutely unbearable for mosquitoes. On hearing such a signal, malevolent insects fly away from the sound source in horror.
